Across Connecticut, Fair Rent Commissions (FRCs) are helping ensure rental housing is fair, transparent, and accountable. To spotlight this important work, the Statewide Fair Rent Commission Network (FRCN) has released a new short explainer video that takes viewers inside a real network meeting and highlights why this collaboration matters.
Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/s531kD8WCrg
The video features New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker, who shares the history of Fair Rent Commissions in Connecticut, home to the oldest FRC in the state. It also includes insight from Connecticut Department of Housing Commissioner Seila Mosquera-Bruno, who explains why the Network is critical for information and resource sharing across all 169 towns. You’ll also hear directly from FRC members across Connecticut about the real-world impact of learning from one another and working together.
The Fair Rent Commission Network is a statewide membership network of cities and towns with established Fair Rent Commissions and led by an Executive Board. Any Connecticut municipality with an FRC is eligible to join, and the Network is actively recruiting communities interested in launching new commissions and municipalities with inactive commissions looking to re-engage.
The Network’s mission is to support existing commissions through training and shared resources, encourage the creation of new FRCs, and to serve as a hub for knowledge, tools, training and collaboration for municipal leaders and housing advocates.
Governed by an Executive Board of active Commissioners and funded by the Connecticut Department of Housing, the Network is made possible with support from The Partnership for Strong Communities, which serves as fiscal agent and partner.

Whether you’re a municipal leader, housing advocate, or resident, the FRCN is helping build a stronger, more coordinated system to protect renters across Connecticut one community at a time.
