On Thursday, September 14th, we came together to celebrate a significant milestone: 25 years of the Partnership for Strong Communities (PSC). As we reflected on this remarkable journey, the overwhelming sentiments in the room were those of inspiration, humility, and profound gratitude.
The last 25 years have been marked by collective determination, the strength of our partnerships, and a shared belief that safe and affordable housing is a fundamental right for all. The power of collective action has resulted in billions of dollars investment in housing and homeless services and deep policy change.
The heart of PSC’s success lies an exceptional team, and it’s impossible to overstate their dedication and passion. The tireless efforts of the current staff, and all of those who came before, have propelled our work forward and created a workplace community that I am both proud and grateful to support. Each of you is an architect of change, and I am profoundly honored to stand beside you as we enter the next chapter of our journey.
Our board of directors has played a pivotal role in steering our course. Their dedication to our mission and their unwavering support, especially during challenging times, has left a deep imprint on our hearts. They embody the values that define us as an organization – compassion, empathy, and a commitment to caring for our communities and one another.
Each of you is a valued leader and partner in our mission to ensure safe, stable, and affordable housing for everyone in Connecticut. Throughout the last 25 years, partnerships have been the key to driving change. Together, we have navigated the challenges and forged pathways to progress. Even in times when hope has seemed foggy, our vision remained clear: affordable housing as a fundamental human right.
During the time since I joined PSC in February 2020, we have learned valuable lessons in resilience, adaptation, and unity in times of crisis. Connecticut is experiencing a housing crisis. Together we must innovate and adapt, embracing new solutions to address the pressing challenges of this time. Our communities deserve nothing less, and we are committed to delivering nothing less.
Every voice, every perspective matters. PSC is dedicated to deepening our listening and inclusivity, ensuring that our work reflects the diversity and strength of our communities. As we look ahead to the next 25 years, we do so with hope, determination, and an unwavering commitment to one another.
Let us continue to build a Connecticut where safe, affordable housing is a reality for everyone. Together, we are a formidable force for change, and together, we will create that change.
