WTIC Radio Features Recent Partnership Work on Health & Housing

The ways in which housing quality and affordability determines health outcomes was discussed on WTIC-AM 1080 on May 20, as Shelby Mertes of the Partnership and Alyssa Norwood of the CT Association of Directors of Health appeared on Face Connecticut with Sam Gingerella.

Mertes and Norwood discussed topics raised by the recent IForum their organizations cosponsored on April 25.  The discussion covered how concentrations of poverty caused by high housing costs can lead to substandard housing that causes lead poisoning, asthma, injuries and other health concerns, as well as how suburban spread-out, car-dependent development leads to obesity, heart disease and related conditions.

The show is archived for listening on the WTIC website.
