Study Links Affordable Housing and Job Growth

 

A recent paper from the New England Public Policy Center at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston finds empirical evidence linking the availability of affordable housing to job growth in metropolitan areas across the United States. The study looked at metropolitan areas around the country as well as specifically at the state of California and found that, consistently, unaffordable housing is linked to negative effects on local unemployment growth.
