State Bond Commission Approves Over $30 Million for Housing


The State Bond Commission met on Tuesday, July 28 and approved over $30 million for housing development and rehabilitation. The items are as follows:

  • The Department of Housing was awarded $21,101,028 for the Flexible Housing Program to assist with the construction and rehabilitation of eight housing projects throughout the state.
  • The Department of Housing was allocated $8,824,718 for the Housing Trust Fund to assist with the construction of 22 elderly rental units in Essex and the rehabilitation of 112 affordable rental units in Hartford.
  • The Capital Region Development Authority was awarded $125,000 for the purpose of providing a loan the San Juan Center, Inc to assist with renovations to housing and a storefront in Hartford.
  • The Office of Policy and Management was authorized for $1,273,079 for the nonprofit collaboration incentive program. The funds will be used for eight grants-in-aid for nonprofit collaboration projects, one of which will provide $86,300 “grant-in-aid to the New London Homeless Hospitality Center to renovate a building for co-location of staff from various non-profits including: New London Homeless Hospitality Center, Covenant Shelter of New London and the Columbus House, Inc.”
