State Announces Funding Awards for Affordable Housing Development

On March 24, Gov. Malloy and Department of Housing (DOH) Commissioner Klein announced the award of almost $28 million in state funding to build and rehabilitate roughly 200 affordable housing units throughout the state. The projects announced were awarded funding through the state Competitive Housing Assistance for Multifamily Properties (CHAMP) program.

These affordable units will be used to increase access to transit-oriented development, allow seniors to downsize and remain in their community, provide supportive housing for homeless residents, etc.

Developments funded by CHAMP in this round:
•    Greenwich, Armstrong Court Apartments
•    Hamden, Hamden Specialty Housing
•    Meriden, Hanover Place
•    New Britain, Columbus Commons
•    New Britain, North Street Apartments
•    New London, Saint Mary's Place
•    Norwalk, SoNo Life Center
•    Suffield, The Hamlet on East South Street
