Report Ranks CT 6th Among States on Health

United Health Foundation and the American Public Health Association
 

America’s Health Rankings Annual Report, an annual assessment of the nation’s health on a state-by-state basis, has ranked Connecticut 6th among the states in overall health indicators. The report analyzes a comprehensive set of behaviors, community and environmental conditions, policies, and clinical care data.

The report finds that Connecticut making progress on reducing the number of children living in poverty and preventable hospitalizations. Among the challenges for the state, the report notes the following:

  • large disparity in health status by education level
  • high prevalence in excessive drinking
  • low per-capita public health funding

America’s Health Rankings Annual Report is the result of a partnership between United Health Foundation and the American Public Health Association.
