Reaching Home Campaign Seeks Your Expertise

Reaching Home is the Campaign to prevent and end homelessness in Connecticut. The Campaign utilizes a collective impact approach with more than 200 partners across 120 organizations representing a variety of sectors. Reaching Home works to develop public policies, community support, systems strategies and resources that will bring an end to homelessness in our state. Campaign members work together to create a unified annual legislative agenda, set priorities for the work ahead, work together to remove barriers, and many more. The overarching goal of the Reaching Home Campaign is to make homelessness in Connecticut rare, brief, and nonrecurring by 2023.

The Campaign was launched in 2004 with the initial goal of ending chronic homelessness in Connecticut through the creation of permanent supportive housing. In March 2011, Connecticut launched Opening Doors – CT, a framework to prevent and end homelessness among all populations in Connecticut. This plan is aligned with the federal Opening Doors plan to end homelessness with the Reaching Home Campaign serving as the leadership structure for planning and oversight of Opening Doors – CT.

Currently, the Campaign is undergoing a restructuring process, and is seeking members to serve on the newly identified workgroups to help drive creative and collaborative solutions to prevent and end homelessness in CT.

The Workgroups need representatives from the following areas including those who work with/represent youth and young adults, families with children, veterans, and/or single individuals experiencing homelessness:

  • People with lived experience
  • Providers
  • Subject matter experts (non-providers)
  • System representatives (i.e., FQHCs representative)
  • Relevant municipal representatives*
