The Next Frontier:
Ending Family Homelessness

Join us for our fourth IForum - The Next Frontier: Ending Family Homelessness. This IForum will be held on Tuesday, April, 26 with light breakfast and conversation from 8:30 am - 9:00 am and the program running from 9:00 am - 11:30 am.

The Reaching Home Campaign is dedicated to ending family homelessness by 2022.  Recognizing the slower economic recovery in Connecticut and the nationwide trend of rising poverty, many working class families in our state, particularly families with young children, are living on the edge of homelessness. In an effort to prevent and end family homelessness, a number of innovative initiatives are underway to better understand and address the needs of our state’s most vulnerable families. The Next Frontier: Ending Family Homelessness IForum will explore these initiatives, as well as best practices and existing resources that can be leveraged to end family homelessness.

Speakers will share:

  • National best practices, strategies, and existing resources that can be leveraged to serve vulnerable families.
  • Preliminary findings from Connecticut’s first effort to estimate the cost impact of families experiencing homelessness.
  • State agencies’ role in ending family homelessness and how coordination and collaboration across the various systems can target supports and services for families experiencing homelessness.

Featuring presentations by:

  • Sharon McDonald, Director for Families and Youth, National Alliance to End Homelessness
  • Kathryn Parr, Assistant Research Professor, University of Connecticut
