New Website to Promote Livable Communities in Connecticut

Connecticut’s Legislative Commission on Aging

Connecticut’s Legislative Commission on Aging has launched a new website to promote elements that foster livable communities in the state, such as affordable, diversified housing options, community services and walkability.

As baby boomers age, many are opting to age in place in their homes. To accommodate this preference, the Commission on Aging has created this website to offer guidance to policy makers, municipal leaders and community activists on how to allow for these options in housing, planning and zoning, transportation, and social and supportive services.

The creation of livable communities will not only allow older people stay in their homes and communities, but will also attract young professionals. Both these populations desire many of the same things, including but not limited to walkability, housing and transportation options, and amenities.
