HUD Releases FUP/FSS Demonstration for PHAs to Help Youth

The Family Unification Program and Family Self-Sufficiency (FUP/FSS) Demonstration recently posted by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development provides Public Housing Agencies (PHAs) with a unique opportunity to partner with child welfare agencies to prevent youth homelessness among young people who exit foster care at the age of 16.

The demonstration will evaluate the effectiveness of providing housing vouchers and financial assistance to young people. It will also allow PHAs to extent FUP voucher assistance from 18 months to 5 years for youth between the ages of 18-21.

PHAs currently administering FUP and FSS programs are eligible to apply for this demonstration. The application deadline is July 15, 2016.
