HUD Issues NOFA for Section 811 Project Rental Assistance Demonstration

The Department of Housing and Urban Development has issued the Notice of Funding Availability for their 2012 Section 811 Supportive Housing for Persons with Disabilities Project Rental Assistance Demonstration (PRA Demo) Program. The Section 811 PRA Demo will offer $85 million in funding through the NOFA to state agencies to provide affordable supportive housing for people with disabilities. This is the first time that criteria is in place to give Section 811 funding to state housing agencies that have entered into partnerships with state health and human services and Medicaid agencies.

With the Section 811 PRA Demo, HUD hopes to increase innovative state-level partnerships and strategies that will provide affordable and permanent supportive housing for extremely low income people with disabilities. The Frank Melville Supportive Housing Investment Act of 2010 allows the PRA option within the Section 811 program.

The application deadline date is July 31, 2012 and applications must be submitted through www.Grants.gov. To read about HUD’s Section 811 Program, click here
