HUD Announces $32 Million to Help Public Housing Residents Access Jobs

On Friday, March 11, 2016, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development awarded approximately $32 million to public housing authorities, resident associations and non-profit organizations to help provide and retain service coordinators to assist public housing residents find jobs and become economically secure.

This funding, allocated through HUD’s Resident Opportunities and Self-Sufficiency-Service Coordinators Program, will provide public housing residents with the support they need to access employment, identify existing community resources and connect to educational programs.

A total of $1,224, 000 will awarded to the following housing authority agencies in Connecticut:

•    Housing Authority of the City of Hartford: $492,000
•    The Housing Authority of the City of Norwalk (NHA): $246,000
•    Housing Authority of the City of New Haven: $486,000
