However You Slice it, CT Sees Double-Digit Increase in Home Sales

Whether comparing August 2016 to the same month last year or using year-to-date (YTD) numbers, new data from the Warren Group shows that Connecticut home sales increased by double digits. Single-family home sales jumped 12% to 3,698 from last year’s August total of 3,303, marking the highest number of homes sold this year. The median sales price for a single-family home received a 1.9% bump to $260,000 from $255,000.

Year-to-date (YTD), single-family home sales increased 10.2% to 21,320 from last year’s total of 19,338, while the median sales price dipped by less than 1% to $249,000 from $250,255.
Comparing August of 2015 and 2016, condominiums almost saw double digit sales. Condo sales rose 9.9% to 933 sales from last year’s total of 849. The median sales price for condos remained static at $170,000.

YTD, Connecticut condo sales jumped almost 6% to 5,441 sales from last year’s total of 5,138. The median sales price for condos took a 0.6% dip to $164,000 from $165,000.
