A large portion of the 2011 housing related service requests logged in by 2-1-1 – 17,864 – sought assistance related to homeless shelters.  Other top housing-related calls included: housing search and information – 12,455; subsidized rental housing – 6,698; and housing authorities – 3,807.  2-1-1 also received a high number of calls that fall in their “Financial Assistance” category that pertain to housing, including: rent payment assistance – 11,601; rental deposit assistance – 7,486; and mortgage delinquency and default counseling – 1,142.

The United Way is still calculating the volume of requests it received related to the Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program (HPRP), which are expected to be substantial.
