DECD Releases FY12 Annual Report

Department of Economic and Community Development

The Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) released its FY 2011-2012 Annual Report on February 6, 2013. The report provides an overview of the work DECD has done to help businesses, communities and the state grow and succeed over the past fiscal year.

Within DECD, the Office of Housing and Community Development (OHCD) administers many of the state’s affordable housing programs. OHCD was busy in FY12, thanks to Governor Malloy’s February 2012 announcement that the administration would make $330 million available for affordable and supportive housing development, maintenance and reinvestment throughout the state.

In FY 2012, OHCD invested over $42 million in Home, Housing Trust Fund, Affordable Housing Program
and other state funds in 17 projects around the state and, in doing so, created or preserved 854 units of housing. During Fiscal Year 2012 the total value of DECD’s housing development portfolio grew to over $554 million.
The report includes:

  • A breakdown of units created and units preserved by municipality
  • A list of the tax abatement program awards
  • Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILOT) Program awards
  • Congregate Program Awards
  • Elderly Rental Assistance Program awards
  • Resident Services Coordinator Program Awards
  • An updated list of DECD’s HUD Section 8 Portfolio
