CJJ Announces New Initiative to Address Youth Homelessness and Juvenile Justice Involvement

Coalition for Juvenile Justice

In June, the Coalition for Juvenile Justice, in partnership with the National Network for Youth (NN4Y) and National League of Cities’ Institute for Youth, Education, and Families, created a new initiative entitled Collaborative for Change: Addressing Youth Homelessness and Juvenile Justice. This project aims to develop policy and strategy recommendations that prevent homelessness among children and youth involved with the juvenile justice system and to ensure that children and youth experiencing homelessness have the supports and services they need to reduce recidivism and increase involvement with the criminal justice system.

This project is funded by the Melville Charitable Trust, Raikes Foundation, and Tow Foundation and includes an Advisory Committee that guides the policy recommendations being proposed. Partnership for Strong Communities and the Center for Children’s Advocacy currently serve as members of the Advisory Committee.
