Bond Commission Allocates Over $75M for Housing and Economic Development


The Bond Commission met on January 12, 2015 to allocate funds including over $75 million for various housing and economic development related items below:

  • Department of Labor will receive $5 million to supplement funding for the Subsidized Employment and Training Program (STEP).
  • Department of Housing will receive $33 million to finance grants-in-aids and loans for various housing projects and programs through the Flexible Housing Program.
  • Department of Housing received $5 million for supplemental funding for the Main Street Investment Fund account for municipalities.
  • DOH received $2.5 million for supplemental funding to recapitalize the Energy Conservation Loan Fund for eligible owners of single family or multi-family properties for the purchase and installation of energy conservation improvements.
  • DOH received $4,613,000 for the Housing Trust Fund to provide a loan to Sheldon Wyllys, LP to assist with the rehabilitation of 107 affordable rental units.
  • Office of Policy and Management will receive $10 million for the Small Town Economic Assistance Program (STEAP).
  • OPM will receive $15,232,845 as grants-in-aid for urban development projects
  • Department of Transportation will receive $5,750,000 to finance the on-going design of rail stations for the New Haven-Hartford Springfield commuter rail line.
